IRS Gearing Up for Nationwide Tax Forums

Earn CPE while preparing for next tax season!

We may be on the other side of filing season, but that doesn’t mean a tax professional’s work is done (like I even needed to remind you). Your clients may not realize it, but you spend the off-season getting prepared for the next January-through-April grind.

Part of that preparation involves earning Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits, and it can help to learn about opportunities near you. The IRS just announced the dates and locations of their Nationwide Tax Forums.

According to the IRS, attendees will be able to choose from “43 seminars and workshops presented by experts from the IRS and association partners on cybersecurity, changes to the tax law, ethics, and other topics.” While there are up to 19 CPE credits up for grabs, there’s also the opportunity to network with people in the tax industry and participate in the IRS Case Resolution Program.

That said, the IRS reminded those who want to attend that there is an early bird discount: You’ll save $20 if you sign up before June 15 (members of the ABA, AICPA, NAEA, NATP, NSA, and NSTP can get an additional $10 discount); otherwise, you’ll have to pay $255. Unfortunately, if you’ve made “fashionably late” a conscious lifestyle choice, you can expect to shell out $370 for registering at the venue.

Here are the five host cities for the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums:

Location Forum Dates Standard Registration Deadline
National Harbor, Md (near Washington, DC) July 9 – 11 June 25
Chicago July 23 – 25 July 9
New Orleans Aug. 6 – 8 July 23
Orlando, Fla. Aug. 13 – 15 July 30
San Diego Sept. 17 – 19 Sept. 3

Want to learn more or sign up? It’s easy: Just head to IRSTaxForum.com. Oh, and if you attend the DC or San Diego forums, come by and see us at the exhibit hall. We’d love to chat with you about how GruntWorx can help your tax practice!
