Scanning Overview
Scanning tax documents saves time and paper compared to manual copying, but the key question is when to scan – before or after preparation. Scanning on the front-end enables full automation and a seamless paperless workflow, while back-end scanning primarily supports electronic archiving only.
Scanning Requirements
- Use any scanner*
- Set the scanning resoluition to 300 dpi
- Scan in Black & White, not Color or Grayscale
- Scan the original source documents when possible
- Do not put password protection on the finished file
- Save or print the finished scan as a PDF file
